Hal Leonard Expands Distribution of Jawbone

March 30, 2011

A new deal that goes into effect on May 2nd expands Hal Leonard Corporation’s rights to distribute the catalog of Jawbone Press, a leading independent music book publisher based in London and San Francisco.

Hal Leonard has been distributing the line to music stores around the world since Jawbone’s launch in 2007, but will now be able to also sell their publications to the book trade in North America, Australia and Asia.

Jawbone’s latest frontlist features authorized biographies of Jack Bruce, Arthur Lee, and Elektra Records, as well as detailed looks at Elvis Presley’s late-’60s comeback, Bob Dylan’s Rolling Thunder tour, and the story of acid and psychedelic folk. Due soon are books on Johnny Cash’s latter-day renaissance, the life and death of Randy Rhoads, the formation of Depeche Mode, and the work of pioneering reggae producer Coxsone Dodd.

Nigel Osborne, London-based COO of Jawbone, comments on the deal, “Hal Leonard has done a remarkable job of distributing our titles to music retailers, and can certainly hit the ground running in this new and expanded capacity. Their sales reps have a great working knowledge of the Jawbone catalog, and how best to make it flourish in both the MI and book trades.”
