Lamond on Upcoming NAMM Show

January 12, 2012

NAMM president and CEO Joe Lamond spoke to the press on Thursday, January 12, as the industry continues to gear up for 2012 Winter NAMM in Anaheim.

Lamond cited increased attendance across the board and a cautiously optimistic outlook as businesses continue to adopt innovation as a primary means of making progress. Lamond said registration is up 8% over last year, with registration of international guests up 13%, adding that the total numbers for pre-registrants is the highest in the history of NAMM.

“It’s a big family reunion,” he said. “It was January of 1983 that I attended my first NAMM, so it’s no different for me.” Lamond pointed to this year’s 233 new exhibitors as a compelling argument for the industry’s strength, and noted that tech was on its way in as a big part of the future of how customers make, record, edit, and perform music. “Whether you like it or not, it’s coming,” he said.

The Winter NAMM Show takes place January 19-22 in Anaheim, California.
