‘Now, Where Did I Put That Stradivarius…’
A violin handed into a Swiss lost property office by a member of the public turned out to be a multimillion-dollar Stradivarius. The violin’s owner had loaned it to a friend last week, who then mistakenly left it on a train in Bern, Switzerland.
Police officers made an appeal to the public to find the valuable violin and released CCTV footage showing a passenger walking off with it at a different station.
The violin became one of the most expensive items ever handed into a lost property office this past Sunday. The police have not given a value on the violin, but it is no doubt worth millions. There are believed to be just 600 Stradivarius instruments left, with the fabled violins attracting international interest on the rare occasions they come onto the market.
