Video Series on Flute Making from Burkart

October 25, 2012

Burkart has released a video series detailing what goes on in a flute workshop, how a raw piece of silver becomes a solid tube, the difference between a drawn tone hole versus one that’s soldered, the assembly of a flute’s mechanism, and much more that’s involved in the crafting of these instruments.

The series – available right now for viewing on Burkart Flutes and Piccolo’s website, www.burkart.com – consists of five parts, with each video examining a different facet of the manufacturing process. The high definition videos offer insight into the creation of a Burkart flute or piccolo, complete with commentaries from the flute makers at Burkart’s workshop. Each clip provides an up-close view of the specific and detailed steps within the flute making process, from the machining of rods to Burkart’s instrument testing method.
