Hoshino Enters into Distribution Agreement with 2box AB

Hoshino USA Inc. has reached an agreement with 2box AB of Sweden to become the exclusive U.S. distributor of 2box electronic drums. The deal represents a mutually beneficial strategic breakthrough for both companies. “We’ve been thinking about electronic drums for a few years, “ says Hoshino USA president Bill Reim.  “But the product would have to be a very strong entry, and 2box drums have earned that distinction.”

2box AB CEO Bengt Lilja adds: “We deliberated as to how and when we should enter the US market. We wanted to wait for the right opportunity and the right partner. Hoshino USA is precisely the kind of distribution partner our line of electronic drum products should have.  Adding our e-kits to Hoshino USA’s catalogue of fine percussion products feels like a great fit in terms of introducing our products to dealers and drummers in the U.S.”

Among the DrumIt Five Mk2-US e-kit’s many features is its unusual flexibility in terms of playing surfaces. The kit’s default heads are unique rubber pads, favored by some for their likeness to the feel of acoustic drums. However, should the end-user prefer an alternate style of head, the Mk2-US heads switch easily, in a fashion very similar to way heads are changed on acoustic drums, using traditional lug nuts (though far more quickly).

The DrumIt Five Mk2-US also boasts cutting-edge flexibility in terms of sound. “These days most professional drummers have their own samples and loops they want to integrate quickly into their work. Downloading audio files from a laptop into the Mk2-US module is a breeze.” The module features 4gb of flash memory, and CEO Lilja goes on to point out. “As well, the pre-loaded stock sounds and loops are carefully recorded—and multi-layered—to retain the minute nuances of an acoustic drum. Couple those high quality sounds with ultra-fast trigger designs and you’ve got an e-kit that not only performs impressively at the professional level, but is a lot of fun besides.”
