The FCC has responded to a request by Shure to extend the deadline for public comments relating to proposed changes in wireless microphone licensing rules by seven days, from Feb. 22 to March 1.
The FCC noted that while requests for extensions are not routinely granted, such extensions are sometimes warranted when the additional time will serve the public interest. The commission agreed with Shure's deadline extension request based in part on the unusually harsh winter weather hitting the Washington D.C. area in recent weeks. The FCC itself was closed for four days from Feb. 8 through Feb. 11 and closed early Feb. 5.
