Unseasonably cool and wet weather and slightly lower attendance did nothing to dampen the enthusiasm of the more than 100 suppliers and dealers represented at the 45th Annual National Association of School Music Dealers (NASMD) Convention. The four-day event took place at the Hilton El Conquistador Hotel in Tucson, Ariz., March 21-24.
…music show fields 1,600 exhibits. Bolstered by an improved consumer economy in Germany and throughout Europe, the 2007 Frankfurt Music Fair and Pro Light + Sound shows broke the 100,000 attendance mark for the second consecutive year.

…experts warn it’s more than a ‘fishing expedition.’ ‘The whole history of Federal Trade Commission is about catching industry associations doing bad things.’ So says a law professor at a leading university in the Midwest who studies and teaches about the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and antitrust/anti-competition issues. The professor, who requested anonymity, said that the FTC is often suspicious of trade groups because organizations like that can be fertile ground for antitrust violations and historically they have at times been found guilty of wrong-doing.
