Steven Wasser of Verne Q. Powell Flutes

This past fall, Verne Q. Powell Flutes announced that it had acquired the assets of E. K. Blessing of Elkhart, Indiana from Randy Johnson, the fourth generation of the Blessing family to have owned and operated E. K. Blessing. With the acquisition of Blessing, Powell gained its own factory to produce SonarĂ© brass. The Elkhart operation will be managed by Steve Rorie, who had over 20 years’ experience working for Selmer and who managed the Bach factory.

Jupiter Band Instruments, Inc. has been growing rapidly over the past few years and just recently released a new line of professional instruments that’s already meeting with positive reaction. Even in a tough economic time, Tabor Stamper, Jupiter’s president, is very pleased with the company’s position and is excited about the future. Recently, MMR sat down with Stamper to get a better handle on Jupiter’s growth as a company, their newest products, and what the future holds.

Diplomatte Musical Instruments

Recently, Diplomatte Musical Instruments has been making a splash on the Band and Orchestra instrument scene. Working with a select group of factories and suppliers all over the world has helped Paul Shelden, president and CEO of Diplomatte, keep overhead down and retail prices low, while still producing quality instruments. Shelden’s unique perspective, as both a player and educator has certainly had an effect on his brand. To get a better handle on the inspiration behind Diplomatte, MMR sat down with Shelden to discuss the company and it’s hopes for the future.
