The 2026 South by Southwest (SXSW) Music Festival turned Austin into the global epicenter of live music once again, and Allen & Heath was right at the center of it all. To handle the wild audio demands of one of the world’s fastest-paced live events, Allen & Heath deployed its entire ecosystem of digital consoles across more than 30 festival venues. From the revamped Qu series, to compact CQ mixers, to the SQ, Avantis, and flagship dLive systems, the gear was all over the city.

At the always-packed British Music Embassy showcase at the Palm Door on 6th, the outdoor stage leaned on the serious processing power and flexibility of two dLive consoles. Those flagship desks easily handled a relentless schedule of top-tier UK talent and rapid-fire changeovers. Inside, the venue used the Avantis Solo to deliver huge HD-touchscreen workflow efficiency and pristine audio, all packed into a super compact footprint.

Across town at the Downright Hotel, the SXSW Radio Day Stage showed off a high-performance triple-threat configuration. A dLive console commanded the front of house mix to guarantee top-tier sound for a diverse lineup, while an Avantis console handled monitors to give artists the clarity they needed on stage. To ensure the music reached listeners at home with the same impact, an additional Avantis Solo was dedicated specifically to the broadcast mix, proving just how much power can be packed into a small space.

SXSW is famous for tight schedules, rapid 15-minute changeovers, and a constant revolving door of guest audio engineers. In this high-pressure cooker, the Allen & Heath ecosystem shined as the ultimate festival solution. Because the entire console lineup features such an intuitive design, guest engineers can walk right up to an unfamiliar desk and start confidently mixing within minutes.

The week culminated in a massive, packed-house performance by country star Charley Crockett at the legendary Stubb’s BBQ. Powerful dLive S5000 control surfaces were deployed at both front of house and monitors, wrapping up SXSW 2026 with an incredible sounding show.

“Our return to SXSW this year really builds on more than a decade of supporting the festival with Allen & Heath consoles across a wide range of official venues—from intimate rooms to some of the most technically demanding stages,” said Jeff Hawley, Vice President of Marketing, Allen & Heath USA. “It’s always a highlight for us to spend time face-to-face with the engineers who rely on this gear every day, whether that’s simply connecting or providing hands-on training with the latest Allen & Heath systems in a real-world environment.”

“At the heart of it, our focus remains on empowering the pro audio community and working alongside the incredible SXSW Production team to help manage and support dozens of stages throughout the festival. Beyond the gear, what makes SXSW special is the people. We were able to capture conversations with dozens of engineers and artists, reinforcing the relationships and shared passion that continue to drive this event forward year after year.”
