Sound Events, a full-service rental company based in Gasselternijveen in the North East of the Netherlands, has completed a significant expansion of its audio inventory through an investment in Martin Audio’s TORUS and FlexPoint systems.
Operating since 2004, Sound Events has established a strong presence in both the festival market and the high-end corporate sector. For owner Mark Staals, the transition to the latest Martin Audio technology was a logical progression following years of success with the brand’s legacy WT2 and W8LC compact line arrays.
“Martin Audio is a brand that simply does what you expect of it. It is reliable, powerful, and has been at the top for years,” says Staals. “For us, it was essential that a new investment would offer that same trusted sound, but with today’s technology.”
During a routine service visit to Martin Audio’s Dutch distributor, Ampco Flashlight Sales, Staals took the opportunity to test Martin’s latest systems. A showroom demonstration highlighted the output and coverage capabilities of the constant curvature TORUS Series, which Staals immediately identified as an ideal fit for Sound Events’ production requirements.
“The TORUS demo revealed exactly what we were looking for: a system that is both visually sleek and sonically superior,” Staals describes.
TORUS T1215 and T1230 are compact, passive, two-way 12” loudspeakers engineered for medium-scale applications. With exceptional ease-of-use, scalability and deployment flexibility, they are designed to be used as array elements in vertical and horizontal constant curvature arrays of up to six enclosures. They can also be used singularly as point-source loudspeakers.
“The combination of the TORUS configuration and iKON amplification gives us the control we need for modern productions,” notes Staals.
In addition to the TORUS systems, the company invested further in the Martin Audio portfolio with the addition of the versatile FlexPoint Series, selected to support Sound Events’ diverse range of productions.
Following an intensive evaluation process, the final inventory specification comprises TORUS T1215 and T1230 enclosures, FlexPoint point-source speakers, SX118 subwoofers, and iKON amplification.
Martijn de Jong of Ampco Flashlight Sales concludes, “With the addition of TORUS and FlexPoint to their range, Sound Events is ready for the next phase: making even more impact with productions where sound quality is the absolute priority.”
